The Little Sisters of Hoboken are coming to the Roxy Theater in Minerva.  They will be staging a variety show to raise money to bury their fellow sisters who died from food poisoning in the long-running musical comedy, Nunsense, by Dan Goggin.
It ran for ten years off-Broadway, becoming one of the longest-running shows in that category, and won four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical.
It is being directed by Lise Uhl with husband, Tommy Edds, as musical director.  Lise, a Minerva High School and Mount Union College graduate, returns to her hometown after 43 years at McLennan Community in Waco, Texas where she served as Director of Visual & Performing Arts.  She grew the program from as she described it, “little, tiny productions with pianos to full scale operas.”
Lise met her husband at the Waco Civic Theatre in the production of “Brigadoon”.  Following graduation from Howard Payne University in Woodway, Texas, Tommy began selling pianos.  Tommy brings 48 years of experience in the piano world working at Steinway & Sons and serving as Director of Institutional Development for Metroplex Piano.
Lise and Tommy will make sure the nuns' variety show will be a success in the Roxy Theatre, 114 N Market St., Minerva, April 24 & 25. Doors open at 6 p.m. and a selection of delicious desserts will be available, as well as raffle baskets and other opportunities to support MCCF, with the performance starting at 7 pm.  Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds support local projects.
